  ITM 2024, Türkiye

Unitex & STM partnered Tetas Turkiye in exhibiting three sets of new machines in the prestigious biennial ITM Textile Machinery Exhibition, held in Istanbul on 04-08th June 2024. The machines exhibited are:

1. UDX 34″ 24G 84F 8-lock model equipped with Open-width take-up system, knitting the popular spacer/scuba fabric

2. STM 36″ 17G 64F Rib model equipped with 40-kg roll tubular take-up system, knitting the 2×2 rib fabric plated with spandex

3. UBX 32″ 20G 96F 3-thread fleece model (3-fleece) equipped with 25-kg roll tubular take-up system, knitting the sensitive polyester-cotton plated 3-fleece fabric

Unitex also partnered with SMARTEX (Portugal) Automated Fabric Inspection for Circular Knitting Machines using the artificial intelligence technologies

Our long-term partner, TETAŞ AŞ (http://www.tetas.com.tr/), celebrated a 40 excellent years as a top supplier of textile and garment technologies in Türkiye, Middle-east, Central Asia and Eastern Europe markets.

ITMA Milan 2023, Unitex Stand in Hall 02, Stand D204

Unitex has been participating at ITMA since the year 1999. Mr. Benny Pua, M.D., said, “ITMA is very important for us to connect with existing and new customers, agents, suppliers from all around the world. We utilize this opportunity to present our latest machine models and technology updates. We will continue to use the ITMA shows to showcase our latest top-notch designs”.

 “At ITMA, we are hosting customers from Europe, North Africa, Central and Latin America as well as global apparel brands and Asian textile MNCs. We invited new agents and distributors to join our Unitex family”, he added.

 Unitex had been a key supplier for producers of garments and fabrics for global brands since the 2000s, therefore the company had to increase its production capacity and eventually in 2017, the company acquired the brand Wild Horse of China, renamed STM, to cope with increasing demands. In the past, Wild Horse was the largest knitting machine manufacturer in China in terms of size and capacity of average 2000 units produced annually.

Manufacturing competence

With the acquisition of the Wild Horse brand in 2017, Unitex has taken over the manufacturing unit in China which has capacity to produce 1500 machines, spread across 80, 000 sqm and employing over 300 people. Unitex has a total capacity of more than 2000 machines per annum spread across all 3 facilities.

Unitex has now has a total of 3 manufacturing facilities namely in Malaysia, Shanghai and Xiamen Fujian in China. The company’s facility in Malaysia was originally established in Singapore in 1996 and then relocated to Johor Bahru in Malaysia in 2015. This facility, spread across 10, 000 sqm has capacity to manufacture 400 machines with a workforce of 50 people. Unitex’s Shanghai factory was started in 1998 with a capacity to manufacture 500 machines. The Shanghai facility is spread across 16, 000 sqm employing over 100 people.

The factories have fully integrated production capabilities such as CNC machining centers, heat and surface treatment. All critical components are manufactured in-house to ensure consistent quality, high precision, long lasting and durable. Currently 70% of the components including cylinder, cams, transmission and knitting component systems are manufactured in-house and the balance 30% is outsourced including yarn storage feeder, needle, sinkers and electrical devices.
